Playa Blanca
Playa Blanca is a clean, quiet haven located on the Southern most point of Lanzarote. From every beach you can see the islands of Fuerteventura and Los Lobos, one of the most spectacular beach views available in the world. There are four separate golden beaches in Playa Blanca and at least a further eight beaches collectively known as Playas de Papagayo.

Activities
Watersports can be organised by the beachfront and boat trips leave regularly for the Papagayo beaches – the views of the beautiful coastline are stunning and boats can drop visitors off at the beach to be picked up by a later cruise. The Timanfaya National Park is only ten miles (16km) away where visitors can admire the dramatic volcanic scenery and even ride a camel. Ferries depart regularly from the harbour to the nearby island of Fuerteventura, just six miles (10km) away.

Papagayo
Papagayo is located on the East side of Playa Blanca near the new 5 star Marina complex and is widely known as the finest collection of beaches in the whole of Spain.

Sea Fishing in Lanzarote

Click to enlargeSea fishing in Lanzarote is very popular and there is a wealth of opportunities to become involved in many different types of fishing whether you are a novice or a pro. Lanzarote is blessed with an exceptional climate all year round, which means that the sea temperature rarely drops below 19C in the winter months and rises to 26C during the summer. The ocean floor varies to depths of 3,500 meters which allows for some serious deep-sea fishing.

There are several types of fish that you are likely to find swimming around the Atlantic ocean that surrounds the Canaries. The Bluefin Tuna, the biggest of the Tuna family, weighs up to 1,000 lbs and is not caught without a fight as it often dives towards the ocean floor once it has been hooked. The Wahoo can be found in schools around the coastal reefs and is know for its speed and agility when its been caught.

For night time fishing the Oilfish and the Escolar are easy targets as this is the time when they rise to the surface. The Malfara shark lives between 400-600 meters below sea level and requires deep-sea fishing equipment to be caught and a lot of patience. The Blue Marlin is certainly a prize species as it can grow up to 500lbs in weight and proves a challenge for even the most experience of fishermen. Other fish that make their appearance between April to November are Spear fish, Dorado, Amber jack the Hammerhead Shark.

Eating Out
